These are unpredictable and rapidly changing times. As I write, we are in the middle of lock-down, and it’s uncertain how long we will remain so.  We don’t know how long Covid 19 will be dominating all our lives, or how our work as counsellors and psychotherapists will be impacted in the future.

It’s challenging to know when and whether trainings can go forward. Interaction Training want to be creative and flexible, to still be able to offer our working with couples’ trainings whilst respecting social distancing needs.

ONLINE WORKSHOP

We have made the decision to run an extra Dealing With Affairs workshop online as the original workshop is now full.  Nicola Jones will lead the workshop as planned.   This course is not intended to be a comprehensive workshop about how to work couples online.  Our focus in these workshops is working with couples, and up until now this has always been face to face. Having said that, implicitly you will experience handling online technology, and will be doing ‘couples therapy’ roleplay in 3’s – where one is the therapist and two role play a couple – in  breakout rooms.  This mirrors doing couples therapy online, and will give you some skills practice at doing that.  However, to work with couples online will need further practice and training.

We will run the workshop over 3 days.  These are the dates:

9.30 – 1.30 on Friday 19 June,

9.30 – 1.30 on Saturday 20 June and

9.30 – 1.30 on Sunday 21 June

HOMEWORK AS PART OF THE WORKSHOP

As a part of the workshop, there will also be an additional 1 hour of homework to be done on the Friday afternoon in your own time.

SLIDES AND EXERCISES

Before the workshop you will be sent a copy of the slides and the exercises.

PRACTICE AT BEING A THERAPIST

One feature of our Working With Couples workshops is that there is an opportunity for everyone to practice being a therapist once during the training.  We will continue this in the online world using Zoom Breakout rooms.

MAXIMUM NUMBERS

For this workshop it is our intention to have a maximum of 30 participants, as we explore running trainings in the online world.

REDUCING THE COST

To reflect the fact that we are not hiring a venue and have no travel costs, the price of the workshop will be reduced to £165 for the very early booking discount (VEBD).  £180 for the early booking discount (EBD). And £200 for the full price (FP).

EARLY BOOKING DISCOUNTS

Now that we have decided to make this workshop an online course, in order to enable people to book, we are  extending the early booking discount.  So the price will be

£165 if booked and paid by 1st May – Very Early Booking Discount

£180 if booked and paid by 1st June – Early Booking Discount

£200 after 1st June – Full Price

EQUIPMENT YOU WILL NEED

We will use Zoom, so you would need a computer that has good enough internet access to be able to be online, and in a quiet spot where you won’t be disturbed.  It would be preferable if there are no people walking around in the background. An Iphone can be used in an emergency, but we recommend planning on using a laptop or computer.  Tablets also work, though please be aware that they have less functionality in Zoom.

PRACTICE SESSIONS FOR USING ZOOM

Many people will never have attended a workshop online.  So, we have decided to run 2 ‘technology’ practice sessions.  This will give everyone a chance to log on and check that their microphone and camera is functioning correctly.  These will be on:

Friday 29th May at 9.30-10 and /or

Saturday 30th May at 10-10.30

We strongly recommend that everyone ‘joins’ the meeting for ONE of these sessions.  This is to ensure that no time is wasted once the June workshop starts. Please let us know if you do not need this session, because you have complete confidence in both your equipment & your ability to use it!!
