Sex and Sexual Problems: What do you want to Know? A Chance to ask all the Questions you want Workshop with Juliet Grayson

This 2 hour slot will be open for you to ask questions about sex. PLEASE SEND THESE IN ADVANCE.   Juliet will do her best to answer them.  This can include very basic questions about sexual function and dysfunction, a ‘supervision question’ about a client you are working with, or a ‘what do you do if…’ type of question.  You can also ask about sexual problems and the kinds of treatments that might be available.  Obviously Juliet won’t know the answer to everything!

Juliet has been told (on the Certificate in Working with Couples training she and her team run) that most therapists wait for their clients to start talking about sexual problems.  And yet, most clients don’t feel able to raise sexual topics, often feeling too shy or ashamed.  Juliet says:

“I’d love to help all therapists to have the confidence to help clients discuss sexual problems.  They don’t need to know the answer, but by helping their clients to bring these topics into the therapy room, and being able to signpost them to resources, therapists can help remove the shame and stigma around sex.”

PLEASE SEND QUESTIONS IN ADVANCE to juliet@therapyandcounselling.co.uk (please copy karlbrock.cyh@gmail.com) – and put  QUESTION FOR 16 MAY in the subject of the email.  Please indicate if you’d prefer the question to be asked anonymously, or if you are okay for your name to be read out.  Juliet will also answer ‘live’ questions asked on the zoom call.

Questions asked so far include:
1) Is there a simple way to understand arousal as a threshold, and orgasm.  And, in very simple terms, what it takes to get aroused, and what it takes to be orgasmic?
2) If Viagra and Cialis don’t work for erectile dysfunction, what else can someone do, if they cannot maintain an erection?
3) Is there an equivalent of a vacuum pump for women who struggle to get aroused, and who find it hard to lubricate.
4) What are the most common sexual problems that you come across
5) If you are a couples therapist, but not a psychosexual therapist, when is it ok to work with a sexual problem, and when should you refer on?
6) What is vaginismus?  Is it treatable?

Juliet will also be touching on topics from the forthcoming ONLINE programme that she will be running with William Ayot, A MATTER OF LIFE AND DEATH: THE QUEST FOR SOUL, MATURITY AND RESILIENCE IN AN UNCERTAIN WORLD.
This programme starts on Saturday 18th June and continues fortnightly until October 2022 (with a month’s break in August).  All sessions are recorded so you can catch up if you miss one.  There will be regular small group meetings that participants are expected to attend in between the main sessions (at a time to suit the group).
