SELF ASSESSMENT – ENTRY READINESS FOR THE WORKSHOP: ADVANCED CERTIFICATE IN NEURODIVERSITY-INFORMED PRACTICE

Before booking, please consider whether you already have working knowledge of the following concepts:
Core neurodiversity foundations
- The neurodiversity paradigm and the difference between neurodiversity and neurodivergence
- Common neurodivergent profiles in adults (e.g. autism, ADHD, AuDHD)
- Overlapping and co-occurring presentations (e.g. anxiety, OCD, trauma, PDA)
Brain, nervous system, and regulation
- Differences in sensory processing and sensory profiles
- Nervous system regulation and stress responses in neurodivergent people
- Interoception and its relationship to emotional awareness
- Neurodivergent burnout as a nervous-system phenomenon rather than personal failure
Cognitive & emotional processing
- Executive functioning differences (e.g. initiation, planning, time perception, transitions)
- Alexithymia and differences in emotional processing and expression
- Rejection Sensitive Dysphoria (RSD) and sensitivity to perceived rejection
Relational and therapeutic dynamics
- The double empathy problem and mutual misattunement
- Masking and camouflaging as adaptive survival strategies
- Internalised shame and ableism in neurodivergent clients
- How therapy itself can unintentionally replicate shame or misattunement
Sex, intimacy, and relationships
- Sensory needs within intimacy and sexual contexts
- Consent and communication differences in neurodivergent relationships
- Neurodiversity in relation to gender, sexuality, kink, and non-normative relational structures
