About the event

Using the Pesso-Boyden method of somatic, or body-based psychotherapy, the group will explore how we can provide experiences that were missing when you (if you are the client) were a child – to help you deal better with challenges in your daily life.

There will be 4 structures (client sessions) and a check-out at the end of the day. Everyone will have the chance to observe or participate in other people’s work. This can be almost as powerful as having a structure yourself, as you can piggyback on someone else’s experience and benefit from new perspectives.

About the method

Al and Diane Pesso developed the Pesso Boyden Psychomotor System of Psychotherapy (Pesso-Boyden method) after working with dancers and noticing what happens when they slow down and connect with the felt sense in less easeful movements – thoughts, memories or emotions emerged from the unconscious memory. When the dancers then received longed-for interactions in response to these thoughts, memories or emotions, shifts began to happen leading to a sense of pleasure, satisfaction, meaning and connectedness. From these observations, the Pesso’s developed the method to provide a felt sense experience of longed-for interactions being met, rewiring the brain to create a better basis from which to respond to life.

About the Facilitator

Juliet Grayson is a psychotherapist, coach and teacher.  Working as a psychotherapist since 1991, she specialises in working with couples and sexual problems. She also works with people who are facing a life-limiting diagnosis.

After many years of exploring different types of therapeutic systems, in 2001, Juliet discovered the Pesso Boyden System Psychomotor (PBSP).  She is passionate about this because it is so effective, enabling clients not just to learn to cope with their issues, but to be able to (in many cases) fundamentally shift and change them, so that they see the world differently.  As yet, PBSP is not well known in the UK, and Juliet wants to change that.

Juliet is UKCP registered, NLPtCA accredited, NCIP accredited, and PBSP accredited as a psychotherapist.  She is recognised by UKCP as a NLPtCA supervisor.  She is also an accredited PBSP supervisor and one of the first PBSP accredited trainers in the UK.
